Will Halo 3 game widen microsoft lead over Sony in the battle for next generation Game industry dominance.

On the launch of halo 3 Some game enthusiasts lined up before dawn at a Best Buy store on New York's Fifth Avenue to grab the halo 3 copy. some retailer's offer to let them pay for a copy of the game and pick it up at midnight or the next day. What had been a only a modest gathering earlier in the day had swelled to a crowd of about 500 people that cheered as buyers entered the store, resembling other big consumer debuts this year, such as the last "Harry Potter" book and Apple's iPhone.

"This is a critical holiday in terms of winning the next-generation console fight versus our competition and nobody has anything to go up and match 'Halo'," Shane Kim, vice president of Microsoft Game Studios, told Reuters Television.

Microsoft is backing the game with midnight sales events at some 10,000 retailers across the United States.

while Microsoft expects initial demand to surpass that for 2004's "Halo 2", which racked up $125 million in its first 24 hours.

At a Best Buy near Microsoft headquarters outside Seattle, company founder Bill Gates was cheered by a crowd of more than 500 people when he emerged from the store to shake hands.

Gates personally sold and autographed the first copy to Ritesh David, a 17-year-old who was stunned to find himself being served by the richest man in America.

The first two "Halo" games have sold a combined 15 million copies and cemented Microsoft as a serious player in a video game industry that was dominated by Sony's PlayStation 2.

Everyone knows Microsoft's original Xbox was largely a defensive move by Microsoft against the original Sony PlayStation, which had become so big in the 1990s that it threatened the future of Windows PC gaming. If Sony were to continue unchecked in games console development, Microsoft feared it may lose significant PC sales supported by gaming.

The PS2 was able to maintain a clear lead, having sold 111 million units between 2000 and 2006, compared to only 24 million for the Xbox, and 21 million for the failed GameCube.

Do you think microsoft will win this battle with industry player sony with its new move halo 3 which is going to upraise the xbox360 sale???

Is microsoft new released halo 3 is overhyped!!!

After five hours of playing, I can report: fans will find it is all they wished for and more.Believe the hype.its a game featuring a futuristic soldier battling to save humanity from an alien onslaught."It is worth it. It is time to finish this fight," its a microsoft tagline for it.Are you part of the 'Halo Nation?' Or does the game leave you cold?

The Master Chief again returns as the main protagonist, with the Arbiter making several major appearances. The other characters below, and some others, have been revealed in promotional media.

Plot
When the game begins, Master Chief is back on Earth, where the Covenant loyalists (Brutes, Drones, and Jackals), led by the Prophet of Truth, have laid waste to most of the planet. Covenant ships are hovering over an excavation site a few miles from the ruins of New Mombasa and have uncovered a large artifact in this site (seen in the E3 2006 trailer), and Cortana is still the prisoner of Gravemind. The Arbiter, along with the Elites, Hunters, and some of the Grunts have split from the Covenant during the civil war at the end of Halo 2 and formed an alliance with the UNSC.
The game will not begin right where Halo 2 left off. Instead, the comic mini-series, Halo: Uprising, will bridge the story gap between the ending of Halo 2, and the beginning of Halo 3.

Halo 3 (X360)

Halo 3 is a first-person shooter developed by Bungie Studios exclusively for the Xbox 360. The game ends the story arc begun in Halo: Combat Evolved and continued with Halo 2.[5] The final version of the game was released on September 25, 2007[1] in New Zealand (where its midnight release made it first available for retail), Australia, Singapore, India, Canada, Brazil and the United States; September 26, 2007 in Europe; and September 27, 2007 in Japan. On August 29, 2007, Halo 3 officially went gold.[6] GameSpot reported that 4.2M units of Halo 3 were in retail outlets on September 24, 2007, a day before official release[7], a world record volume release.
The epic saga continues with Halo 3, the hugely anticipated third chapter in the highly successful and critically acclaimed Halo franchise. Master Chief returns to finish the fight, bringing the epic conflict between the Covenant, the Flood, and the entire human race to a dramatic, pulse-pounding climax.
Taking full advantage of the power of Xbox 360, Halo 3 expands on everything that has made the Halo franchise great, adding a wealth of graphical, technical and gameplay advancements, as well as offering a whole new level of online gameplay.

Halo 3 Game will earn $700 million

According to L.A. Times' calculation of 10 million units sold at an average price of $70 each, Halo 3 will earn $700 million - of which Microsoft is expected to take 80 percent, or $560 million. Considering that Halo 3 cost $30 million to develop, another $20 million to market and Microsoft is apparently paying out a staggering $25 million in bonuses to Bungie employees, Microsoft still gets to keep nearly $500 million of spare change
